Adult programs at the library in October

Intro to Genealogy: 6 PM Tuesday, October 3 Are you curious about Genealogy, but don't know where to begin? Or have you hit brick walls with your research? Come learn how to get started and other places for research that might break down those brick walls!

Location: Kids Activity Room

 

CREATIVE WRITING:  3 – 5 pm Thursday, October 5, 12, 26 and November 2, 9, 26.

Betty Williams will teach a six-week series of writing classes.

 

52 WEEKS OF GIVING: - 4 PM Friday, October 6, 13, 27 This program has a different theme each week, but all of the themes are centered around giving back to our community and making a difference in people’s lives. No sign up is required—you can join this program at any time!

ESSENTIALS OILS 101:  2 pm Saturday, October 7 What are essential oils and how do I use them? These questions and more will be answered by naturalist, Nicole Wicker. Plus the first 10 participants will receive a free sample!

How-to: FamilySearch.com: 2 pm Monday, October 9 Learn how to navigate the Free Genealogy website, FamilySearch.com. Genealogy Coordinator, Lillian Wingate, will show you how to use the site and what new records have been added.

HOW TO GET A JOB: Workplace Etiquette: 6 PM Tuesday, October 10 Searching for employment is easier once you learn the necessary skills. This month concentrate on Workplace Etiquette! Today’s session: Conflict Resolution will look into ways to keep your cool when things heat up at work.  This is a free ongoing series, instructed by business woman, Monique Dennis.

Location: Computer Lab

 

ANIME & MANGA CLUB (age 12 – 18) 5 PM Wednesday October 11 & 25 For teens and young adults who are interested in watching and discussing different anime series. We enjoy an activity, snacks and new episodes each week! No sign up required.

FAMILY PROGRAM: Star Wars Read Day! (all ages) – 1 -3 PM Saturday, October 14 This is a family event, complete with fun games and activities all around a Star Wars theme! This program is part of our book distribution series, so all kids who attend will leave with a new book to take home!

Knitting and Crocheting Club - 2 pm   Saturday, October 14 & 28

Bring your knitting needles, crochet hooks and yarn! Share projects and get some new ideas! New members are always welcome!

Genealogy Organization: 6 PM Tuesday, October 17

Description: Learn how to organize all of your Genealogy Research in a family binder. Supplies listed on flyer. Many handouts will also be given to aid in further Genealogy Research.

Adult Cooking Series – 6 PM Monday, October 23 Renowned chef, Patrick White will give a live demonstration, tasting, and share some valuable cooking tips! On the menu: Teriyaki Salmon & Pineapple Salsa!

JUST MOVE!- BOLLYWOOD DANCE -  5 PM Thursday, October 26 Learn new and assorted ways to get moving and stay motivated in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This month, Damali Bacchus will get us moving with Bollywood Dance — music and movement!

FAMILY PROGRAM: Children’s Fall Festival! (all ages) – 12-2 PM Saturday, October 28 This is a family event, complete with fun Fall games and activities! This program is part of our book distribution series, so all kids who attend will leave with a new book to take home!
