Children's programs at the library in August

ALL PROGRAMS TAKE PLACE AT THE Statesboro Bulloch County Public Library, 124 S. Main St.

 

GAME NIGHT (Ages 10 & up)

5:30-7:00 pm Wednesday, August 2

Try out some of our new and interesting board games, or have fun on the Xbox 360. We’ll have staff on hand to help get the fun started. No sign up needed.

 

HOMESCHOOL ART

2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 3

A chance for homeschool students to participate in large-group learning activities at the library. Homeschooled students only. No signup required.

 

52 WEEKS OF GIVING (all ages)

4 pm Fridays

August 4, 11, 18, 25

This program has a different theme each week, but all of the themes are centered around giving back to our community and making a difference in people’s lives. No sign up is required—you can join this program at any time!

TEEN ADVISORY GROUP (TAG) MEETING (Ages 12-18)

5:30 PM Monday, August 7

Teens meet regularly to help advise the library on what materials & programs might be of interest to teens. They also serve as library volunteers & plan & lead programs of their own. Ask Jen Schumann for more details!

 

BOOK TO MOVIE CLUB: Tuck Everlasting (Ages 8-12)

4:00 pm Tuesday, August 8

Read the selected book, and then join us to watch the movie and discuss both. No sign up required– just check the calendar to see what we’re reading now.

 

TODDLER TIME (ages 2-4)

10:30 a.m. Wednesdays

August 9, 16, 23, 30

Toddler Time is designed for parents and young children, with a focus on stories, song, and movement. After story time and songs, we normally have an easy craft for the toddlers to work on (with parent help). No sign up is required—you can join this program at any time!

 

ANIME & MANGA CLUB (ages 12 – young adults)

5:00 p.m. Wednesday August 9 & 23

For teens-young adults who are interested in watching and discussing different anime series. We enjoy an activity, snacks and new episodes each week! No sign up required.

 

HOMESCHOOL STEM (all ages)

2:00 PM Thursday, August 10

A chance for homeschool students to participate in large-group learning activities at the library. Homeschooled students only; no signup required.

 

CHESS CLUB (all ages)

3:00 p.m. Friday, August 11 & 4:00 pm Monday, August 28

 

LEGO CLUB (ages 5-12)

2:00 PM Saturday, August 12

Join us for some fun free-building time with our massive LEGO collection. No sign up is required—join anytime!

 

MAKER’S MONDAY (ages 10-16)

5:30 p.m. Monday, August 14 & 28

This hands-on program has a different theme each session, but always in a STEAM area (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). No sign up is required.

 

KID’S ART CLASS (ages 8-12)

5:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 16

This is a chance for elementary and middle schools students to spend a little extra time being creative! No sign up is required; be prepared to get messy!

 

HOMESCHOOL CROCHET CLUB

3:00 p.m. Friday, August 18

A chance for homeschool students to participate in large-group learning activities at the library. Homeschooled students only. No signup required

 

SOLAR ECLIPSE FAMILY PROGRAM

2 pm Saturday, August 19

Get ready for the total eclipse of the Sun coming up on Monday, August 21 and visible from right here in Statesboro! Learn how to experience the event safely.

READING TO ROVER (all ages)

5:00 P.M. Monday, August 21

New and improving readers can choose any library book at their reading level, and read it aloud to one of the friendly pups from the Statesboro Therapy Dog group. No sign up required

 

KID’S CRAFT NIGHT (ages 6-11)

5:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 22

MAKERS FAIR

Come see all the Makers Space technology the library has to offer!  Various stations will be set up so that you can see the machines & technology in action.
