Adult programs at the library in August

BASIC DRAWING 1, 2, & 3 -   2 pm Saturday, August  5, 12, 19

Have you always wanted to express yourself through drawing but felt lacking in skills? Come to Basic Drawing Classes offered over three Saturdays in August and  learn how to unleash your creative spirit! 

Location: Community Room August 5 & 12, Children’s Activity Room  August 19

 

JOB READINESS: COVER LETTERS – 6 pm Tuesday, August 8 Searching for employment is easier once you learn the skills needed to effectively present yourself to employers. A free ongoing series, instructed by business woman, Monique Dennis. This session, learn how to create effective cover letters.

ANIME & MANGA CLUB (age 12 – Young Adult) 5 pm Wednesday August 9 & 23 For teens and young adults who are interested in watching and discussing different anime series. We enjoy an activity, snacks and new episodes each week! No sign up required.

Location: Teen Activity Room

 

CHESS CLUB (all ages) - 3 pm Friday, August 11 & 4 pm Monday, August 28 All levels of chess players welcome!

Location: Childrens Activity Room

 

KNITTING AND CROCHETING CLUB - 2 pm  Saturday, July 8 & 22 Bring your knitting needles, crochet hooks and yarn! Share projects and get some new ideas! New members are always welcome!

INTRO TO GENEALOGY - 2 pm Monday, August 14 Genealogy and Local History Coordinator, Lillian Wingate will provide an overview on how to get started with your genealogy research.

GENEALOGY TALK: ANCESTRY.COM – 6 pm Tuesday,  August 15 Genealogy and Local History Coordinator, Lillian Wingate will review how to use the ancestry.com website in its updated format and will show the difference between the Library version and the paid subscription. Sign up to reserve your space.

SOLAR ECLIPSE FAMILY PROGRAM - 2 pm Saturday, August 19 Get ready for the total eclipse of the Sun coming up on Monday, August 21 and visible from right here in Statesboro! Learn how to experience the event safely.

ADULT COOKING SERIES –  6 pm Monday, August 21  

Renowned chef, Patrick White will give live demonstration, tasting, and a chance to learn some valuable cooking tips!

COFFEE WITH A COP - 11:30 am Wednesday, August 23 Come by and share coffee and conversation with Statesboro’s Community Policing officer!

GENEALOGY ONLINE SOURCES – 6 pm Thursday, August 24 Learn about different Genealogy related websites that can aid in your research. Some may require a registration, but all are free! Hosted by Genealogy Coordinator, Lillian Wingate.

MAKERS FAIR - 2 pm Saturday, August 26

Come see all the Makers Space technology the library has to offer!  Various stations will be set up so that you can see the machines & technology in action.

Location: Teen Loft

 

JUST MOVE!: BOLLYWOOD DANCE– 5 pm Thursday, August, 31 Learn new and assorted ways to get moving and stay motivated in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This month, Damali Bacchus will get us moving with Bollywood dance moves.
