Toddler Drive-In Movie (Ages 2-5)

10:00 a.m. Saturday July 1

A fun morning for toddlers! You and your little one will make your own car out of cardboard and then we’ll drive them up to the big screen to watch a quick episode or two of some fun shows! Sign up required!

 

TEEN ADVISORY GROUP (TAG) MEETING (12-18)

5:30 PM Monday, July 3

Teens meet regularly to help advise the library on what materials & programs might be of interest to teens. They also serve as library volunteers & plan & lead programs of their own. Ask Jen Schumann for more details!

GAME NIGHT (Ages 10 & up)

Try out some of our new and interesting board games, or have fun on the Xbox 360. We’ll have staff on hand to help get the fun started. No sign up needed.

 

Touch a Truck (Ages 2-12)

Kids will enjoy climbing exploring and learning about many large and unique vehicles. A simple activity will be provided afterward in the children’s department. Thursdays from 10 – noon.

 

Build a Birdhouse (Ages 10 & up)

5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 6

Get real carpentry experience as we use our tools to put together a wooden birdhouse kit. The supplies are limited so sign up is required!

 

Music & Lyrics (ages 10-18)

Join us for some fun free-building time with our massive LEGO collection. No sign up is required—join anytime!

 

MAKER’S MONDAY (ages 10-16)

5:30 p.m. Monday, July 10 & 24

This hands-on program has a different theme each session, but always in a STEAM area (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). Monday, July 10: Fort Building, Monday July 24: Explosion Art. No sign up is required.

 

BOOK TO MOVIE CLUB: The Watsons Go To Birmingham (Ages 8-12)

Read the selected book, and then join us to watch the movie and discuss both. No sign up required– just check the calendar to see what we’re reading now.

 

ANIME & MANGA CLUB (ages 12 – 18)

For teens who are interested in watching and discussing different anime series. We enjoy an activity, snacks and new episodes each week! No sign up required.

READING TO ROVER (new and developing readers)

New and improving readers can choose any library book at their reading level, and read it aloud to one of the friendly pups from the Statesboro Therapy Dog group. No sign up required

 

Toddler Art (Ages 2-5)

We’ll have an easy craft prepared for toddlers & parents to work on together, and we’ll clean up the mess afterwards! This month: Mess-free Finger Painting! Sign up required!

 

Teen Night w/Safe Haven (ages 12-18)

Come talk healthy relationships, and help us stomp out teen dating violence! There will be music and activities! We will have pizza, cookies and drinks while they last – so bring your friends! No sign up required.

 

Kids Cupcake Decorating (Ages 6-11)

5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 19

Join us for a fun night of eating (and decorating) tasty cupcakes! We’ll learn to make our own piping bags and practice some new artistic skills with frosting. Then we’ll let everyone loose on their own cupcake creations! Sign up required!

Red Cross “No Fines” Blood Drive (age 18+) Noon – 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 21 Give the gift of blood between noon and 5PM and we will waive up to $10 of library fines for you or an immediate family member! This offer is good for one day at the Statesboro-Bulloch Public Library Branch.

 

Family Movie: “Moana”  (all ages)

2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 22

Parents and kids are encouraged to join us for a Family Movie event. This month: MOANA! Children under 13 must be accompanied in the room. Light snacks will be provided.
