Megan Muccillo is a rising senior at Georgia Southern University who puts her best foot forward in everything she does.
Hailing from Griffin, Ga., Muccillo is a multimedia communications major and says that she decided to come to GSU after a visit to campus won her over.
“I had only ever heard of Georgia Southern because my older cousin went to school here and encouraged me to visit. Although I didn’t know much about it, I decided to tour the school, and I immediately fell in love with both the gorgeous campus and the friendly people I met here,” she said. “It quickly outshined other universities I had been considering, and once I was notified that I’d won a four-year scholarship, there was no question which school I would attend.”
Muccillo says that her time in college has changed her, and she is a better person for it.
“It taught me some hard lessons and made me grow up. Working two jobs to pay for rent and tuition, I learned how much I am capable of and how to make it on my own,” she said. “I was already 18 when I got here, but I really grew up in college. Of course I made plenty of mistakes along the way, but I learned from them and came out a better person for it.”
Muccillo says that she draws inspiration from her everyday life.
“I am inspired by others daily. When I see people every day accomplishing goals and overcoming obstacles, I am motivated to do the same in my life. People’s strength and resilience, to me, are inspiring.”
