Change happens, just not overnight

January 27, 2010

"Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies." – Shawshank Redemption.

Sometimes, you just have to sit back and let life do what it wants. Changes happen every day, and there’s not a whole lot you can do about it. Everything changes, and I’m a firm believer in everything happening for a reason. For reasons I don’t understand today, obstacles are thrown in my way.
    That’s the way life goes.
Through it all, it will not ever hurt to have friends at your side you can trust. I’m a lucky person to have so many great friends I can trust to stick it out with me until the very end – and I hope they understand I’ll be there for them if they ever should need me.
I’m a stubborn person, and I sometimes refuse to accept changes. No matter how hard-headed I am about it, though, I can’t change the fact that I’m not going to have the perfect wedding I’ve always dreamed of. My sister and sister-in-law tell me that it’s normal to finally just accept that nothing will ever really be perfect in life.
But that’s what makes life so interesting.
Change is coming to Statesboro, too.
The City shut down the Statesboro Flea Market and Club Zone because of their parking ordinance violations.
Retriever’s has gone through another rejuvenating face-lift.
Heck, Conan O’Brien has made his exit, too.
It seems like no matter where you look you’ll find nothing but the trouble lurking in the shadows. However, every now and then you’ll also see the great things life can offer. It took me spending a weekend surrounded by my family to get that point across to me.
Everyone has their rough patches, and eventually you learn to form a love-hate relationship with them. They’re there so you can fully appreciate it when they’re gone – kind of like an out-of-town guest you wish would leave immediately so you can finally just sit on your couch alone.
Statesboro’s starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, too. Don’t believe me? Take a look at the economic report published by the experts at Georgia Southern. They say to expect that the economic recession will dissolve throughout this year. Ed Sibbald, GSU's director of the Center for Excellence in Financial Services, even went on “Morning’s UnPHILtered” and discussed it at length. For the entire interview, check out www.BoroLive.com.
Olive Garden is going to open soon. With that opening, there will be 120 to 150 job opportunities for employment seekers.
The new economic projections are hopeful. Barack Obama preached about hope, and it got him elected. Maybe the United States of America doesn’t really need someone to stand up and talk about hope.
We’re tired of talking. Maybe all we need is each other – working together and helping each other stand.
