Children's programs at the library in July

ALL PROGRAMS TAKE PLACE AT THE Statesboro Bulloch County Public Library, 124 S. Main St.

 

TEEN ADVISORY GROUP (TAG) MEETING (Ages 12-18)

5:30- 7:00 pm Monday, July 2

Teens meet monthly to advise the library on materials & programs. They also serve as library volunteers and lead programs of their own. Ask for a TAG registration form at the Children’s Desk!

 

TORMENTA TUESDAYS (ages 5-12)

3:00 pm Tuesdays, July 3, 10, 17, 24

Stop by the library on one of our Tormenta Tuesdays to get practice reading to one of Statesboro’s own Tormenta soccer players! You’ll get the chance to meet and talk to these cool athletes who come to Statesboro from all over the world, and you’ll get some reading practice in as well!

 

SRP: Rockin’ Movie Day “Moana” (All Ages)

10:00 am Thursday, July 5

Join us every Thursday in July at 10:00am, as we host an all ages event for our Summer Reading Program! When the program is over, visit the Children’s Department Desk to turn in your reading log and claim your weekly prize. See a Children’s Department staff member for more information on this summer-long program!

 

52 WEEKS OF GIVING (all ages)

4 PM Friday, July 6 & 20

Give back to our community and make a difference in people’s lives! Stop by on the first and third Friday of the month to see what good deed we’re doing now. No sign up is required—you can join this program at any time!

 

TODDLER FREE PLAY (ages 1-5)

10:30 am Saturday, July 7, 14, 21, 28

At Toddler Free Play, we open the Children’s Activity Room for you to gather together, enjoy playtime with age-appropriate toys, and socialize with other families. Open to children ages 1-5 with their caregivers.

 

FAMILY GAME NIGHT (all ages)

6 pm Monday, July 9

Families are encouraged to join us for a fun evening of cards, board games and video games. We have games for all age groups, from preschool through high school. No sign up required

 

Pajama Storytime (ages 5-10)

6:30 PM Tuesday, July 10

An evening storytime for school-aged children. The program theme differs each month, and can include music, games, activities, crafts, & snacks. Come already dressed in your pajamas!

 

Bingo Rocks! (Families with kids ages 6-14)

6 PM Wednesday, July 11

Join us for an evening of Bingo fun, complete with prizes!

 

SRP: Family Sing-a-long (All Ages)

10:00 am Thursday, July 12

Join us every Thursday in July at 10:00am, as we host an all ages event for our Summer Reading Program! Instrument Craft Day (all ages)

All Day – Friday, July 13 & Friday, July 27 (While Supplies Last!) This “Make it, Take It” program will run all day in the Children’s Department (or while supplies last). Just stop by to pick up a pre-made craft kit and make it yourself, either here in the library or later at home!

READING TO ROVER (all ages)

5:00 pm Monday, July 16

New and improving readers can choose any library book at their reading level, and read it aloud to one of the friendly pups from the Statesboro Therapy Dog group. No sign up required

 

Teen Iron-ons (ages 12-18)

6PM Monday, July 16

Use one of our premade Summer Reading iron-ons or make your own and print it out. We’ll have some drawstring backpacks and t-shirts on hand, or you can bring an item from home!

 

Ice Cream Rocks! (Families with kids ages 6-14)

2 PM Tuesday, July 17

Join us as we learn how to make handmade ice cream at the library. Preregistration is required for this event.

 

Kids Just Dance Day (ages 8-12)

4 – 6 PM Wednesday, July 18

Stop by the Children’s Activity Room to play a little Just Dance! on the XBox360!

 

SRP: Pladd Dot Jam Session (All Ages)

10:00 am Thursday, July 19

Join us every Thursday in July at 10:00am, as we host an all ages event for our Summer Reading Program! Video Game Club (All Ages - under 11 must be accompanied by an adult*)

2:00-5:00 Saturday, July 21

 This program is designed for families to play video games together! Parent must accompany kids 11 & under; ages 12 & up can attend alone. Come drop in and play your favorite Xbox 360 and PS4 video games with our friends at BossLevel Gaming!

 

Toddler Parachute Games (ages 1-5)

10:30 AM Monday, July 23

A fun hour of parachute games for the little ones. Come play!

 

Makey Makey Instrument Fun (ages 6-12)

4 PM Tuesday, July 24

Come on out and play some really wacky instruments! We’ll be turning various items into musical instruments using Makey Makeys, those little electronic tools that connect everyday objects to the computer!

 

Teen Anime Club (ages 12-18)

5:00 PM Wednesday, July 25

For teens who are interested in watching and discussing different anime series. We enjoy an activity, snacks and new episodes each session. New members are always welcome. Drop in anytime between 5:00-7:00 pm!

 

SRP: Family Glow-in-the-Dark Dance Party (All Ages)

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE

Noon until 5:00 PM Friday, July 27

The need for blood in the community is great. Help out your fellow resident and give blood if you can.

 

KIDS ANIME DAY (ages 6-11)

2 pm Saturday, July 28

This program introduces kids to age-appropriate anime shows and movies, combined with a simple craft and light snacks. No sign up required and the program lasts for 1 hour.

 

Safe Haven Teen Talk (12-18)

6:00 pm Monday, July 30

Join knowledgeable and friendly staff from Safe Haven to discuss relationships and enjoy some snacks.
