Children's programs at the library in June

ALL PROGRAMS TAKE PLACE AT THE Statesboro Bulloch County Public Library, 124 S. Main St.

 

52 WEEKS OF GIVING (all ages)

4 PM Friday, June 1 & 15

Give back to our community and make a difference in people’s lives! Stop by on the first and third Friday of the month to see what good deed we’re doing now. No sign up is required—you can join this program at any time!

 

TODDLER FREE PLAY (ages 1-5)

10:30 am Saturday, June 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 At Toddler Free Play, we open the Children’s Activity Room for you to gather together, enjoy playtime with age-appropriate toys, and socialize with other families. Open to children ages 1-5 with their caregivers.

 

KINDNESS ROCKS! – FAMILY PROGRAM (all ages) 2pm Saturday, June 2 Join us for a fun afternoon of rock painting, and then use those rocks to spread kindness all over town! We’ll be distributing these painted rocks all over Statesboro, so people can find them and return them to the library for a free book.

 

TEEN ADVISORY GROUP (TAG) MEETING (Ages 12-18)

5:30- 7:00 pm Monday, June 4

Teens meet monthly to advise the library on materials & programs. They also serve as library volunteers and lead programs of their own. Ask for a TAG registration form at the Children’s Desk!

 

TEEN BUTTON MAKING (12-18)

3:00 pm Monday, June 5

Come try out the library’s new button maker! We’ll create cool button pins from a wide selection of images, words, and photos.

 

CHAD CREWS MAGIC SHOW (2-12)

10:00 am Thursday, June 7

Join us every Thursday in June at 10:00am, as we host a fantastic performer for our Summer Reading Program. When the performance is over, visit the Children’s Department Desk to turn in your reading log and claim your weekly prize. See a Children’s Department staff member for more information on this summer-long program!

 

DIY INSTRUMENT DAY (all ages)

All Day Thursday, June 8 & 22

This “Make it, Take It” program will run all day in the Children’s Department. Just stop by to pick up a pre-made craft kit and make it yourself, either here in the library or later at home!

 

Job Hunting for Teens (12-18)

FAMILY GAME NIGHT (all ages)

6 pm Monday, June 11

Families are encouraged to join us for a fun evening of cards, board games and video games. We have games for all age groups, from preschool through high school. No sign up required

 

TORMENTA TUESDAYS (ages 5-12)

3:00 pm Tuesdays, June 12, 19, 26

Stop by the library on one of our Tormenta Tuesdays to get practice reading to one of Statesboro’s own Tormenta soccer players! You’ll get the chance to meet and talk to these cool athletes who come to Statesboro from all over the world, and you’ll get some reading practice in as well!

 

DADS ROCK! (ages 4-11)

4:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 13

Stop by the library to make a Father’s Day card for that special guy in your life. We’ll have all the cards and decorations, you bring the love!

 

TEEN ANIME CLUB (ages 12 – 18)

5 pm Wednesday, June 13 & 27

For teens and young adults interested in watching and discussing different anime series. Enjoy an activity, snacks and new episodes each week!

 

WILL KEATING, PUPPETEER & VENTRILOQUIST SHOW (2-12)

10:00 am Thursday, June 14

Join us every Thursday in June at 10:00am, as we host a fantastic performer for our Summer Reading Program. KIDS ANIME DAY (ages 6-11)

2 pm Saturday, June 16

This program introduces kids to age-appropriate anime shows and movies, combined with a simple craft and light snacks. No sign up required and the program lasts for 1 hour.

 

READING TO ROVER (all ages)

5:00 pm Monday, June 18

New and improving readers can choose any library book at their reading level, and read it aloud to one of the friendly pups from the Statesboro Therapy Dog group. No sign up required

 

CANDY ROCKS! (ages 8-12)

6:00 pm Monday, June 18

Join us for a fun evening of making candy that looks like rocks (but tastes much better!).

 

TEEN JUST DANCE! DAY (ages 12-18)

5:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 20

Teens can show off their moves in the Teen Activity Room as they play Just Dance! on the Xbox 360.

 

JEFFINI THE GREAT (2-12)

10:00 am Thursday, June 21

Kids Storytime (ages 5-11)

A Storytime for school-aged children. The program theme differs each month, and can include music, games, activities, crafts, & snacks.
