First Friday Pep Rally

July 20, 2016

Here in the South, we love our football, and we are celebrating the season with all the local high school football players, cheerleaders, coaches and bands.  Come cheer for your favorite team as they kick off the football season with the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority’s pep rally, a F1rst Friday event, on Friday, Aug. 5, from 5:30-8 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.
Statesboro High, Bulloch Academy, Southeast Bulloch High School and Portal High School are coming together to put on Statesboro’s biggest community pep rally. Tommy Palmer with Georgia High School Scoreboard will introduce the teams and interview coaches and players about the upcoming year. The coaches will talk about their upcoming season, cheerleaders will get the crowds fired up for the season and the marching bands will play fight songs. You will get the opportunity to meet and greet the star players, cheerleaders, coaches and band members.
“This annual event provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase our high school football programs,” said Allen Muldrew, Executive Director of the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority.
Attendees can shop and dine downtown, browse local vendors and indulge in funnel cakes, treats and Metter Meats. There will be a dunk tank, music and giveaways. Sponsor Statesboro Natural Gas will provide free hotdogs to all of the participants.
For more information, please contact the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority by calling 912.764.7227 or emailing mainstreet@statesborodowntown.com.
