Your tax dollars at work

August 18, 2010

BATTLE OF THE SEXES — County deputies reported that a woman and her live-in boyfriend were involved in a domestic dispute. The object of disagreement? Cleaning supplies. No better way to spend our tax dollars then to send the po-po out to break up a fight over OxyClean.
SPEAKING OF WASTED TAX DOLLARS — A number of incident reports this week involved domestic disputes where one party refused to let the other come into the house and gather their belongings. Honestly, people, quit bothering the police and just throw their crap out on the lawn like normal folks.
AH, GOOD FRIENDS — A woman was entertaining a friend in her home when she had to step out the house for a few minutes. When she returned, the friend had left with her flat screen TV and DVD player. Good thing they weren’t enemies.
NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE… — By now, everyone has heard about the two brothers who were arrested for allegedly breaking into approximately 30 different vehicles up, down and around Gentilly Place. How did the little Jimmy Hoffas get caught? One of the brothers was caught drinking a beer in the Eagle Village parking lot with stolen property in his vehicle. A Nobel Prize is forthcoming.
NICE TRY, BUT REALLY?? — A man reported that someone had stolen some fishing equipment from his boat and, when he went to the pawn shop to look for his gear, found some of the items. When he asked the clerk who had sold him the items it turned out to be the gentleman doing work on his yard. When confronted, the worker said he bought the reels from two guys in a van at the convenience store. Right.  Though one wonders if they have any “used” stereo equipment in that van.
NO “SOUP” FOR YOU! — a woman called the authorities and reported that her husband would not stop harassing her while she was trying to get some sleep. The woman said all she wanted was some rest but the man, who had been out drinking according to the report, kept harassing her. Deputies asked that they sleep in separate rooms, which – let’s be honest here – was going to happen anyway.
