Even if you've never been to Savannah, you should know about the plethora of bars available for your entertainment. With such a long list of places to go on different parts of Savannah, a person could get lost trying to figure out which bars and pubs give customers the best bang for their buck.
Well, you don't have to be Irish to have their luck. We've got a list of our favorite bars and pubs in Savannah's downtown area. These places can be combined to our own pub crawl. Do them in whatever order you want, but remember not to drink and drive or do anything to get yourself in trouble (see page 8 for more on the rules).
Pour Larry's: This place boasts itself as "Savannah's home for beer pong" and it's true. The City Market bar has a few tables set up, and they'll give you the cups, pong balls and pitchers so you can play. All you have to do is purchase the pitcher and rock the night away. They even have a few classic arcade machines that you can entertain yourself with while waiting on your chance at beer pong glory.
Address: 206 W. Saint Julian St.
Kevin Barry's Irish Pub: Located on River Street, this pub was voted in the top 10 of the world for military bars. Why? If you visit the second floor Hall of Heroes you'll know why. What awaits is a tribute to law enforcement, first responders and service members of the past and present. This place was also voted one of the top 10 Irish pubs in the nation, so trust us when we say they know how to celebrate Saint Paddy's Day.
Address: 117 W. River St.
Molly MacPherson's Scottish Pub and Grill: Now, they aren't Irish, but they still know how to treat customers. If you head to this place and want a little food, try the Molly's Favorite. If you're looking for a Single Malt to drink, this is your place; they have over 120 in their menu. Overwhelming? They'll let you try a few if you can't make up your mind.
Address: 311 W. Congress St.
The Distillery: If you're an avid fan of beer, this is the place you might want to call your second home. They have beers you've probably never heard of from around the world, and if you're curious they'll let you try from their menu until you find the perfect brew for you.
Address: 416 W. Liberty St.
Six Pence Pub: If you're walking along Bull Street and happen to come across a red telephone booth, then you've hit Six Pence Pub. The atmosphere they're going for here is simple: Brittish pub. You'll find a good selection of spirits, and a pretty good spot to grab a snack for your appetite.
Address: 245 Bull St.
Churchill's Restaurant and Tavern: This is a more upscale pub, but they've got a great atmosphere, a fantastic rooftop terrace and an even better menu. Come here to grab a beer with a meal where you can sit down and relax.
Address: 13-17 W. Bay St.
Wild Wing Café: You can't go to Savannah and not expect a trip to Wild Wing. Located in City Market, this place has a list of bands coming throughout the week of Saint Patrick's Day. They include: Duck & Uncle Buck, Chuck Courtenay Band, Perception, High Velocity, Mighty McFly, Soulfish, Liquid Ginger, Bonepony and more. Their menu is killer, and you can eat outside and enjoy the festivities.
