Statesboro has had a winery for years, and now the Boro has a wine club. Christopher’s on South Main Street has introduced the Christopher’s Wine Club as part of a way for wine connoisseurs to “broaden their horizons” said Adam Saltzman, floor manager and sommelier of Christopher’s.
Satlzman sees a Wine Club membership as a way for members to widen the spectrum of their wine tastes. A $100 wine would be $50 for members, giving them a chance to taste a wine they wouldn’t normally try because of the cost.
Membership into this club is easy. Just stop by Christopher’s and sign up. They will take your credit card information and sign you up. Don’t worry about re-signing yourself up every month; they use an automatic billing system.
“If you don’t want to continue your membership,” said Saltzman. “You just bring up your membership card and we’ll shred it along with your credit card information.”
With a wine list of 55 different wines from all around the world, there are plenty of wines for different tastes for selection.
Speaking of taste, Wine Club members will enjoy a 25 percent discount on the monthly wine tastings at Christopher’s. The wine tastings take place on the last Thursday of every month and targeted for everyone who enjoys wine – be them an experienced connoisseur or a beginner.
“It’s a chance to see new wines,” said Saltzman of the monthly tastings. “It’s very educational with things like a question and answer session for the wines.”
And for those who are worried about breaking the bank for membership into Statesboro’s new club, it’s only $25 per month.
“This may seem like a lot to spend but if you take this scenario you can really enjoy a world of savings,” said Saltzman.
For that $25 per month, Wine Club members can take advantage of discounts like: $10 for the Saturday Bottomless glass of wine at Christopher’s (usually $20), 10 percent discount off all wine purchases daily, 50 percent discount off Wednesday wine purchases, 25 percent discount off any wine special paired with the entrée special of the week, 10 percent discount off all Wine Cellar purchases with presentation of membership card, 25 percent discount off wine pairing dinners at Christopher’s and 25 percent discount off monthly wine tastings.
