Ask any of my friends. I’m not a hopeless romantic. I’m not even that difficult to make happy when it comes to the romance category.
The most romantic thing I’ve ever done for someone is do a scavenger hunt to a Valentine’s Day present. However, when I do something, I don’t do something so cliché that Nicholas Sparks would write about it.
Chocolate I can’t even begin to describe just how much I hate it when a guy gets me chocolate. Chances are, if your Valentine has a gym membership she wants to keep her body image as fit as possible.
There are 200 calories in the Godiva 27 Piece Dark Chocolate Gift Box. Think about it like this. To lose one pound, you must burn 3500 excess calories (500 calories per day over the course of a week). Do you really want to give her another reason to head to the gym?
Check out the article on page 9 on Edible Arrangements. They have something that’ll make her happy.
Dinner Having a romantic dinner over candlelight at some trendy and exquisite restaurant is a nice thought. However, everyone in the world will have the same idea as you.
You’ve got to deal with the lines, the waiter, the couple who decided to bring their bratty and uncontrollable children out with them instead of hiring a babysitter and the hurting it can put on your wallet.
Here’s a hint, boys and girls. A romantic dinner at the house is more romantic than going out. You’re in control of the entire date, and there are no outside disturbances. You can order what you want, and you can even prepare the meal together.
Giant stuffed animals Every year, my fiancé gave me a giant stuffed animal. I have to disagree with this theory that every girl needs a giant stuffed animal. Guys, it's the equivalent of giving you some Hello Kitty fuzzy car dice for your trucks.
It's the idea that counts, but it's just another gift that you'll have to figure out what to do with it. Instead of going that route, try to get her something she'll really appreciate.
Does she like to shop? Get her a gift card! Does she like music? Get her an iTunes gift card.
You can even make a gift yourself. Those are typically the best ones anyway. Happy Valentine's Day.
