A HOMING PIGEON – he’s not. Drunk, apparently disoriented ( or maybe just tired of trying to find his own home,) a man stumbled into a Chandler Road dwelling and decided it was sleepy time. The tenant came home around 4:30 a..m. to find the snoozing boozer, and called police. The cops awoke sleeping beauty and gave him a ride – to jail, charged with public intoxication.
ADD INSULT TO INJURY – A man was walking on South Walnut Street when three thugs jumped him. Not only did they take his last $27, they took his shoes …. And the poor man’s pants. They left him with several visible injuries, and he made his way to the Statesboro Police Department to report he crime. Officers saw what they called “ trauma to the face” and called EMS to treat the battered man.
TIME OF HIS LIFE – The juvenile stole a car and then squatted in a house he thought was empty. But, when a Circle Drive resident’s friend came to feed her dogs, the friend recognized the kid, realized he had no business there and called Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies. The deputies learned the juvenile was responsible for a stolen car, and took him to jail.
CRUSHING NEWS – A Portal Financial Services employee told deputies a man pawned his car title but then they never heard back from him. The offender told an employee he had the car crushed at a recycling center, but there was no record of the transaction. The man was arrested on outstanding warrants.
PRANK CALLING A COP – may not be such a good idea. One Bulloch county Sheriff’s deputy is tired of getting ridiculous and vulgar calls, such as questions like how he feels about skinny jeans. The same caller calls over and over, he said in a report. Last time the man called, he pretended to be a government worker, asking how many people lived in the deputy’s household.
RUNNING FROM THE LAW – A deputy chased a driver running a stop sign at Rocky Ford Road near Portal, and the driver fled into the city limits. He tossed out a beer bottle, ran another stop sign, speeding up to 85 mph, then ran into a ditch. The driver fled on foot, but the deputy found him later in a ditch, lying down. The offender stood, said “you got me” and put his hands up as he walked towards the deputy, who said in reports the man was intoxicated and smelled of alcohol.
