Long known for its happy hour and beer and wings, it's tough to get a table for beer and wings at Retrievers. Most frequenters of the local sports bar and grill know to get to the College Plaza hang-out early to ensure you'll be able to really enjoy the evening.
Retrievers has won awards (Best Bar to Pick up Guys, Best College Bar, Best Sports Bar, Best Pool Tables, Best Happy Hour, Best Karaoke in the 2009 Boro Awards alone).
The popularity of Retrievers didn't happen by coincidence. Hard work and customer service catapulted it to the center of the nightlife scene.
    And they're not finished yet.
Retrievers is creating an atmosphere for a new place for music and entertainment, too. The local sports bar and grill has recently undergone a face-lift, of sorts.
Retrievers opened its doors recently to show off its newly renovated atmosphere.
In tough times like these, people are wondering just why the changes were even necessary.
“To make it a better venue for our customers,” said Nathan Queen, bar manager of Retrievers.
Retrievers puts customer service on the top of its list, and there’s nothing done without customers in mind.
According to Queen, the customers' good experiences is what keeps the customers coming back time and time again.
“Good customer service,” said Queen. “We give our customers good value for their dollar.”
Among the new additions are a touring quality sound system, two HD projectors  and tons of more equipment designed to help the College Plaza business live up to its reputation as one of the more popular sports bar and grills in the area.
One of the problems Queen faced with Retrievers was the smoky atmosphere, which has been reduced with the improvements.
Queen went on to say the constant rotation of music and entertainment seems to help keep customers coming back to Retrievers.
    And the customers agree.
“I go to Retrievers because of the chill and laid back atmosphere,” said Mike Rowland.
“I go to Retrievers at least once a week,” said Paola Cruz. “I keep going to Retrievers because of the overall ambiance and the good drinks.”
When it comes to the actual renovations, customers are weighing their opinions on the new façade of Retrievers. So far, the consensus is that the improvements are good.
“I like most about the renovations the extra space that there is towards the right side of the bar,” said Cruz.
    Rowland couldn’t agree more.
“I think the best improvement is the added space by taking out the wall right there at the entrance and the added TVs to watch sports,” said Rowland.
To add to the improvements, the local hot spot is not only hosting talented acts like Brantley Gilbert, Velcro Pygmies and more but its sound system is one that would rival Juvenile's touring system.
The new improvements range from the six billiards tables, shuffle board, game room and 35 HDTVs lining the walls. Not bad for a transformation from beer and wings to all-out live music and entertainment venue.
