Happy (cold) new year

January 06, 2010

Well, 2010 is here. Welcome to it – and it is cold!
For those who have been living under a plethora of blankets, you’re not alone. The weather outside is beyond that of a typical South Georgia winter. This year’s winter has come with a full force.
While I was sitting alongside my fire place a few nights ago, I couldn’t help but remember where I was when the bell rang in 2009. Needless to say, a lot has happened since last year. It’s amazing what can happen over 365 days.
And things are always changing. For example, when this year comes to an end, I will be married. I will have another niece or nephew. My husband (that sounds so weird to say) will be getting ready to start his last year in medical school.
    That’s just a few things.
When it comes to resolutions, I’m kind of oh-for-the-century in keeping them. For that reason alone I haven’t made a resolution since I started college. However, this year I have a few resolutions I’d like to keep.
I want to start taking better care of myself. Even if it’s as simple as giving up soda and sticking with water and egg whites (believe it or not, I prefer egg whites and have since I was a kid), I want to start being healthier.
I want to start living life to the fullest. I’d love to travel and go on adventures, but that’s not what this resolution is all about. By putting my life first and letting everything else fall into place, I’m going to stop missing out on all the fun things my friends do.
Happy New Year to you and yours. Don’t forget to bundle up; it’s cold out there.
