There is a man that is looking to share a message of encouragement to anyone through his speaking and song. His name is Russell White.
Russell White was born and raised in Atlanta, but came down to Statesboro to attend Georgia Southern University, in which he graduated with his degree in Journalism and Public Relations in 1983. He left Statesboro, but has been back with his two daughters the last 10 years. He has been playing the guitar for over 20 years, but it has been the over the last 10 years that he has focused a lot of his time on working on his music and writing original songs.
With his religious background, he has not only been able to perform with his guitar, but he has also added another element to his program in that of inspirational speaking and counseling.
“Everybody has their own struggles, I encourage people to take their faith seriously and know that we are not here alone," said White.
In addition to his performing and speaking to groups and events, he also has counseled over hundreds of families and individuals and has recently released two different cd albums.
“My big thing is to encourage people to take their faith seriously,” said White. “We are all in the same place, and we all have lots of questions, but none of us should ever give up.”
His two most recent CD albums that he has released, which can be heard on his Web site, www.russellwhitelive.com, are different styles, but still are the same positive, encouraging songs that he tries to write and sing. The first album, “Please Play Free Bird When I Die”, has more of a country slant, while the most recent album, “Never Alone”, has more of a Christian music slant.
White has spoken and performed at a number of area schools and churches, as well as performing locally and the Millhouse restaurant with his friend, Wally Brown, which they call their act the “Southern Brothers Band”. White and Brown will be performing at the Millhouse again on July 9 from 7p.m. to 10 p.m.
White feels that he is able to take his act on the road to different schools and church groups, whether it is youth, men’s, whole church setting, or whatever.
In talking about his music and who his target audience is, White said, “My music is universal. I feel that I can gear it towards any age group.”
So whether it is a church group, school group, or any other special event. Russell White will be more than happy to work with whatever budget you have, including no budget, to be able to speak and perform his encouraging songs and words. If you would like to contact Russell White, please feel free to either visit his website or call him at 912-687-3141 or email him at lespaul1965@hotmail.com.
